Philanthropy Advocacy Circles

Harnessing the power of the Forum network, the District to D.C. Advocacy network employs several opportunities for PSOs to impact change via advocacy and public policy. These opportunities include member-driven Philanthropy Advocacy Circles.*

Philanthropy Advocacy Circles are member-driven coalitions within the Forum network designed to focus and engage on specific public policy and advocacy issues. Advocacy Circles leverage the experience and expertise of multiple PSOs and staff, allowing for a strategic and collective approach toward tackling specific issues.

Led by and made up of both national and regional PSOs, Philanthropy Advocacy Circles will be organized to include PSOs that are well-versed on a specific issue, have an interest in an issue, and/or PSOs whose constituency includes communities is impacted by an issue. Advocacy Circles will focus specifically on Forum Public Policy Priorities by working to build awareness around an issue within the Forum network and the broader philanthropic sector. Some of this work includes:

  • Creating Strategies and Programming that Bring Attention to An Issue.
  • Mobilizing PSO Memberships In Support of An Issue.
  • Identifying Potential Partners.
  • Supporting Advocacy Efforts In-District and on the Hill.

Members interested in learning more or joining an Philanthropy Advocacy Circle are encouraged to reach out to Forum Senior Director of Public Policy, Matthew L. Evans.

*Philanthropy Advocacy Circles are on a brief hiatus during the Forum's interim leadership period.
