This week, United Philanthropy Forum joined partner organizations in sending a letter to the leaders of the House Ways and Means Committee expressing concerns about the potential impact recently introduced bills could have on the charitable sector.

On May 6th and 7th, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the IRS hosted hearing in response to comments it received on proposed DAF regulations. United Philanthropy Forum Senior Director of Public Policy Matthew L. Evans joined over 30 different speakers and testified during the hearing.

A bipartisan group of 33 House Ways and Means members wrote a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen urging reconsideration of the IRS' proposed donor-advised funds (DAFs) regulations.

In response to the recent comments the U.S. Department of the Treasury received on proposed DAF regulations, the department released a notice of hearing on “proposed regulations regarding excise taxes on taxable distributions made by a sponsoring organization from a donor-advised fund (DAF), and on the agreement of certain fund managers to the making of such distributions.” On Monday, April 29th, Treasury published the agenda and list of confirmed speakers who will participate in the hearing, including Forum Senior Director of Public Policy Matthew L. Evans.
