It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Janine Lee, esteemed CEO of Philanthropy Southeast. Janine’s passing has left an indelible void in our hearts and across the philanthropic sector.

On behalf of United Philanthropy Forum, our heartfelt condolences go out to Janine's family, friends, and the entire Philanthropy Southeast community. We share in the grief of losing such an amazing leader and extend our support to all of those who knew and loved her.

Janine's visionary leadership, tireless advocacy, and unwavering commitment to racial equity not only shaped the work of Philanthropy Southeast, but significantly influenced the growth and evolution of United Philanthropy Forum. In addition to her innumerable accomplishments across the sector, Janine generously offered expertise and wisdom to the Vision Design Group that led to the creation of the “Forum” as we know it today. Janine also played an instrumental role in helping to guide the Forum's endeavor to advance racial equity through her service as a Board Member between 2012-2018 and her ongoing engagement with the Forum's Racial Equity Committee.

As we mourn Janine’s passing, let us also celebrate her remarkable life and legacy. In remembrance, we offer this wonderful Forum Nation podcast recording from 2020 in which Janine shares reflections from her own racial equity journey. May her memory serve as a guiding light, inspiring us to continue her important work and to honor her legacy with action.
