Participants will focus on major issues and advocacy efforts in a few states across the country being led by PSOs to get a sense of what a campaign looks like and learn about the obstacle and opportunities in doing this important work. PSOs of varying sizes and resources will be highlighted. How and why does one engage? What are the tools that people find helpful and how does this align with any policy work at the federal level?
Speaker:
This strategy/tactics workshop will work with PSOs to understand how and why to submit public comments. Several Forum members did this for the first time in 2019 while others are more seasoned in this activity. Many are ramping up their policy work to include public comments and other demonstration of support or opposition to proposed public policies. They are also encouraging more deeply their foundation members to submit comments. The value and impact of these types of efforts will be explored.
Speakers:
Members of the Forum, colleagues and partner organizations will use the examples of their policy work to discuss and demonstrate how unlikely partners can come together on an issue with diverse players to form coalitions for better public policy. By working together across stakeholders, a larger coalition can be formed to influence and inform public policy decisions and to build deeper benches for bipartisan support.
Speakers:

How can we move this momentum and the increased engagement in this space to ensure continued investment and awareness of the importance of funding civil society and why this matters to democracy?
Speakers:
