As we near November 3rd and see the rise of vote by mail misinformation as a means of voter suppression and the possibility of electoral conflict drawing closer, the importance of sustained engagement and targeted messaging becomes increasingly important.

For weeks or months now, depending on the kind of community you live in, we have been living a different kind of collective reality, one that is adapting to deep social, emotional, cultural, physical, and economic impacts of social (read: physical) distancing. While we still do not know the full scale of impact the coronavirus pandemic will have upon our communities, our grantees, our artists and educators, we do know that the arts ecosystem as a whole will need to come together to reimagine a different kind of future.
Monday, April 13, 2020 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm
The Forum will be leading a discussion dedicated to addressing issues important to the sector in the next phase of the COVID-19 Legislative Stimulus Package. During this discussion, members will be able to bring their legislative asks and ideas to the table, while also hearing from our national policy partners about the latest on the political landscape here in D.C., and what to expect when Congress comes back to town.
Thursday, April 30, 2020 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm
Here at the Forum we know that all of you are working hard to respond to COVID-19 in your own organizations and with your members and constituencies. We will be holding weekly check-in calls for Forum members that will feature two organizations sharing how they have been handling this crisis, both internally and externally, followed by space for Q&A and open discussion.
Thursday, April 2, 2020 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm
This weekly check-in call for Forum members will feature Jeffrey Tenenbaum with the Tenenbaum Law Group who will touch on two hot topics right now in the nonprofit legal world: the cancellation or postponement of in-person meetings and conferences, and the economic relief measures available to nonprofits under the new federal CARES Act. We'll also hear from Erik Stegman at Native Americans in Philanthropy and David Miller at the Southeastern Council of Foundations, who will share how they are addressing COVID-19 in their organizations and with their memberships and networks.
Congratulations to Hispanics in Philanthropy for being awarded a $5 million dollar grant from The David & Lucile Packard Foundation for financial, technical and capacity-building support to nonprofit organizations and shelters providing front-line humanitarian and legal aid along the migrant corridor from Central America to the southern U.S. border.
The confusing language of Wall Street can make it challenging for both investment and non-investment professionals, foundation staff and trustees to make strong decisions about the foundation’s portfolio or even their own retirement plans. This program will pull back the curtain with an interactive primer on the different types of investments and why they perform the way they do. If terms like equity, ETF, capital call, or fixed income make your head spin, join us. No question is too basic!

Foundations with few or no staff, philanthropic families, and individual donors collectively make about 80 percent of all charitable donations in the United States. These smaller funders often have to “do more with less,” making careful choices about their resources in order to have a meaningful impact.
The intersection of philanthropy and politics was once a taboo topic. Over the past 10 years, there has been a slow move for increased funding of grantees engaged in policy and systems change. Recently, however, there has been a shift in the way that foundations themselves view their role and engagement in policy change.
