Newark Philanthropic Liaison: An Effective Model for Philanthropy and Local Government Collaboration
The Newark Philanthropic Liaison initiative was established in 2007 through an agreement between the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers (CNJG) and then Newark Mayor Cory Booker. The non-partisan, grant-funded position spanned Mayoral administrations, with Kevin Callaghan serving in the role since 2016 under Mayor Ras J. Baraka, who took office in 2014.

On March 7, a bi-partisan group of 11 members of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means singed a letter regarding donor-advised funds.
