Iowa Council of Foundations Appoints New President

Kari McCannThe Board of Directors of the Iowa Council of Foundations (ICoF) has announced the appointment of Kari McCann, of Dubuque, Iowa, as ICoF’s new President.  She begins her new role on October 12, 2015.  The selection of Ms. McCann to lead the Council follows a thorough search and reflects the ICoF Board’s desire to choose a leader with a passion and enthusiasm for philanthropy to continue the organization’s growth.  She succeeds Laura Sauser who served in the role of President since 2012. 

“We’re very excited to have Kari as ICoF’s new President. She has great insight on the dynamic work of funders in our state and across the country to engage and connect to build upon the good work of philanthropy in Iowa while strengthening future growth,” said Suzanne Heckenlaible, Chair of the ICoF Board of Directors.

Ms. McCann comes to the ICoF from the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) where she has served as Director of Nonprofit Partnerships and Grantmaking since 2013.  Prior to her position at the CFGD, she worked at Lumina Foundation and The Clowes Fund in Indianapolis. In addition, Kari has worked for Grantmakers for Effective Organizations and the R.J. McElroy Trust. Kari is a Certified Nonprofit Professional through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.

Ms. McCann received her MA in Philanthropic Studies from the Indiana University Lily Family School of Philanthropy and received her BA in Leisure, Youth, and Human Services from the University of Northern Iowa. She is the Education Chair of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Tri-States Chapter and supports youth philanthropy nationally.

“It will be an honor to serve the members of the Iowa Council of Foundations as the new President. I look forward to working in partnership with the Board and our valued members to ensure philanthropy is recognized, celebrated and enhanced throughout the state of Iowa,”  said Kari McCann.
