Forum’s New 2020 Compensation & Benefits Report Highlights Diversity Trends, COVID-19 Impact for Philanthropy-Serving Organizations

Thursday, October 1, 2020

A new report by United Philanthropy Forum reveals some positive trends on the racial and ethnic diversity of regional and national philanthropy-serving organizations (PSOs), some of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on PSOs, and other up-to-date data about PSOs’ employment practices, boards, and finances.

The report reveals a notable growth in the racial and ethnic diversity of PSOs’ staffs, CEOs and boards over the past four years, in most cases surpassing diversity figures for the country and for the philanthropy and nonprofit sectors as a whole. The report also shows that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on PSOs’ plans for adding new staff positions, and not surprisingly has led a much larger number of PSOs to move to virtual work environments.

A highlights sheet and executive summary of the report are available to the public, and Forum members can access the full 2020 Compensation & Benefits for Philanthropy-Serving Organizations report and take advantage of free benchmarking services.
