2023 Racial Equity Case Stories

Thursday, November 16, 2023

The Forum envisions a courageous philanthropic sector that catalyzes a just and equitable society where all can participate and prosper. We can't achieve this vision without addressing racial equity. While we are engaged in an ongoing internal racial equity journey, the Forum also provides a broad range of services and supports to help members advance racial equity within their organizations and help their foundation members do the same. Among these supports has been an effort to examine where Forum members are in their racial equity journeys, both independently and collectively. On a biannual basis, the Forum conducts a racial equity capacity assessment in which participating member PSOs receive a profile that provides data and analysis of where they are in their respective racial equity journeys.

To complement the learnings from the Racial Equity Organizational Self-Assessments, the Forum commissioned Community Centered Evaluation and Research (CCER) to uplift and share PSO members’ racial equity learning journeys through the development of in-depth case stories. The case stories capture the wide range of experiences of PSOs across varying geographic regions and organizational size and breadth of focus. Four Forum PSO member organizations reflected and shared their internal and external racial equity journeys through one-on-one, in-depth interviews conducted with various staff members.
