Philanthropy West Virginia is hosting a 3 part learning and discussion series on racial equity, from history and structure, to personal experience and perspective. The first session will be December 2nd from 3:00 to 4:30, the second session will be January 6th from 3:00 to 4:30, and the third session will be January 27th from 3:00 to 4:30.

These sessions will be facilitated by Tamara Lucas Copeland, former President of the Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers (WRAG) and author of Daughters of the Dream. In her time at WRAG, Ms. Copeland implemented the groundbreaking “Putting Racism on the Table” series focused on how deeper conversations about racial equity can lead philanthropy to more effective, equitable practices.

At the end of the sessions, the participants should:

  • Have a deeper understanding of the racial history of the country and of the evolution of biases;
  • Be ready to enter into deeper conversations about race, racism and how to reach racial equity; and
  • Be primed to do more in their respective personal and professional lives to address racial inequity and to promote racial equity.
  • The sessions will be anchored in a video and feature small group and large group conversations.

This event is free for Philanthropy West Virginia members. To register, please email info@philanthropywv.org.
