The intersection of philanthropy and politics was once a taboo topic. Over the past 10 years, there has been a slow move for increased funding of grantees engaged in policy and systems change. Recently, however, there has been a shift in the way that foundations themselves view their role and engagement in policy change. More recently, funders are beginning to show up more and more as advocates themselves. Join us for a conversation with Leah Ersoylu, of Ersoylu Consulting, as she shares trends in the field of funding policy and systems change agendas. She will share some challenges and opportunities grantmakers face based on their type, structure and history. She will also provide insights into ways that philanthropy can put increased strength behind the social causes that align with their vision.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn how philanthropy has historically engaged politically, and best practices for how it looks today
- Understand the constraints facing funders and how they can be mitigated
