SCG’s 2020 Annual Conference, Meeting the Movement, invites funders to embody adaptive and authentic leadership, to reimagine our role as stewards of resources and power, and to integrate community-based solutions for a better future.

SYSTEMIC INEQUITIES & THE ROLE OF PHILANTHROPY
The past few months have laid bare long-standing systemic inequities that threaten the livelihood of our nonprofit sector, humanity, and democracy. Philanthropy has channeled a new and deeper level of resiliency than ever before. We are called urgently not only to address the immediate needs of the coronavirus pandemic but also to devote efforts toward its long-term implications. We have a vital role to play in ensuring an equitable social and economic recovery for the communities we serve.

LISTENING, LEARNING, AND SHIFTING POWER
How can philanthropy learn from the deep-rooted resiliency of our communities while building our own tenacity to eradicate structural injustices? How do we shift the power derived from wealth and influence toward marginalized communities so that we can deeply listen and amplify their wisdom? How do we mobilize all available means, from advocacy to funding to internal policies, in the fight for progress?

MEETING THE MOVEMENT
This moment asks philanthropy to take bold actions, embrace trust-based partnerships with communities, and center equity in every aspect of our work. Join us to connect with one another, forward our resiliency, and explore collaborative opportunities.
