As communities across the country work to build economic security for those experiencing housing instability, we know that as funders we need to do our own work to help identify and implement best practices and policies that connect workforce and employment to our efforts to maintain stable housing.

October 18-19, 2017, Funders Together to End Homelessness invites you to join other funders committed to this work for a special event in Washington, DC.  This event will lift up what Heartland Alliance has learned since 2009 in promoting employment and quality jobs as key elements in the fight to prevent and end homelessness and specifically learnings from national efforts to support systems collaboration work with five communities nationwide through the Connections Project. The Connections Project is a three-year project aimed at expanding systems-level innovations and partnerships in communities with the goal of increasing employment and economic opportunity for homeless jobseekers. The event will draw on the lessons learned, successes and challenges faced by these communities and will seek to engage leaders to identify future needs and directions for this work.

During this convening Funders Together to End Homelessness is excited to host a funder-only dialogue that will allow Foundations for Employment and Housing participants and other funders interested in workforce and housing stability to share their own work and learnings.

After the convening, funders interested in continuing the conversation and identifying action steps will be invited to join Funders Together’s new Community of Practice, Foundations for Employment and Housing. Funders like Building Changes, McGregor Fund, Melville Charitable Trust, Paul and Phyllis Fireman Charitable Foundation, and others are already signed on to join this two-year community.

If you are interested in joining Foundations for Employment and Housing or learning more about this event, please visit the Community of Practice's page or contact Jennifer Olney at jennifer@funderstogether.org.
