Panel Discussion – Connecting Racial Equity to Public Policy: Why Philanthropy’s Voice is Crucial

Last year, United Philanthropy Forum released its first-ever Public Policy Principles document. Serving as the Forum's “policy agenda”, this document was designed to guide the Forum's approach to government relations and advocacy work, and explicitly centers racial equity. Similarly, many organizations are uplifting racial equity in their public policy work, recognizing the link between public policy and inequities that exist across the country.

When thinking about racial equity and policy, what questions should we be asking? How can we ensure policymakers understand its significance? And what's philanthropy's role in advancing the common good through this work?

This session will explore the intersectionality of racial equity and public policy, connecting the dots on why it matters, and examine ways philanthropy can go beyond funding by adding its voice and influence to impacting systemic change at the federal, state, and local levels.
