Past and present systems and policies have hindered communities of color from fully collaborating on initiatives to eradicate the social disparities we all face. And knowing that there is no definitive demarcation between our identities and communities, e.g., people can be both Black and Latinx, or also Latinx and Native American, etc. Understanding each other's history is the first step - but how do we apply that historical lens to inform future work?
In this session, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP), Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP), Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP), and ABFE will discuss how we came together to dig deeper and address biases within each of our communities to move towards collectively addressing social disparities as a whole instead of as individual communities.
We will also discuss our current collaborative work.
