There are more than 1 million openly transgender people living across the United States. They face alarmingly high rates of poverty and homelessness, struggle with considerable health disparities, and have had to confront over 200 state and local bills seeking to erode their rights in the last two years alone. Despite the urgent needs faced by transgender communities, for every $100 awarded by US foundations, only 4 cents focuses on trans communities. Philanthropy can and must do more to improve the well-being of transgender communities. Funders for LGBTQ Issues is partnering with the United Philanthropy Forum to support PSOs interested in shifting the culture of philanthropy to be more inclusive of and responsive to trans communities. Come discuss how your PSO can be a part of the solution!
