Bringing grounded experience and a heaping side of humor, Maureen Lawless (The Funders Network) and Regine Webster (Center for Disaster Philanthropy) will build a menu of awareness around low-attention disasters in rural America. They will lay a table of analysis, presenting both information on how philanthropy has gone above and beyond in its pandemic response, as well as information on what low-attention disasters in rural communities look like. The "Burger and the Bun" will be revealed with a flourish, allowing Maureen and Regine to detail their organizations' eight-year cooperative dedication to the Midwest - in partnership with community foundations, regional associations and local disaster-serving organizations. The meal will be enriched by a robust Racial and Intersectional Equity (RIE) sauce that defines the essence of their work.
