Join us for United Philanthropy Forum’s fourth annual winter gathering for the chief executives of regional and national philanthropy-serving organizations (PSOs)—which will once again be a virtual event. It will be a great opportunity early in the start of a new year to connect, learn and share with your CEO colleagues—the only people who understand completely your job and the challenges and opportunities you face.
The gathering is open to chief executives (CEOs, presidents, executive directors) of Forum members. Designees cannot attend.

- Build and strengthen relationships and recognize each other as valuable, continuing resources.
- Deepen ability to create your own collective learning community.
- Peer sharing of best practices and lessons learned around critical leadership issues.
Agenda Highlights
- Leading People & Culture: Rita Sever, a national expert on human resources for the nonprofit sector, will engage in an interactive discussion with participants on how to be an effective leader of people and culture in nonprofit organizations today, focusing on the specific issues of HR, equity and inclusion. Rita is a consultant with Supervision Matters and author of the 2021 book “Leading for Justice: Supervision, HR, and Culture” (read Rita's August 2021 article in the Stanford Social Innovation Review: The Currency of Human Resources Is Trust). Topics to be covered will include:
- Effective HR in the cyber environment.
- Creating a culture of belonging/leading diverse teams while also co-creating expectations and metrics (seeking balance but also holding team to achieve ambitious goals).
- Living a culture of equity in a mostly remote world.
- Mindful leadership going into 2022 to support your staff, members, and partners going into a new normal.
- Small Group Discussion: Critical Issues for 2022: Participants will have an opportunity to engage in two small group discussions with your CEO peers on pressing issues identified by the group during registration. Topics to be discussed will include:
- Operationalizing equity: how is equity showing up in our day-to-day work, not just in DEI conversations?
- Budget forecasting in the midst of COVID.
- New revenue stream options with limited in-person programming or sessions.
- Taking your leadership to the next level as a long-term CEO/president/executive.
- Succession/emergency planning for senior-level staff not just the CEO.
- Health and safety protocols for in person meetings, large and small.
- Networking & Sharing: We'll also allow space for some informal networking and sharing.
